Google is planning to acquire or expand real estate holdings in New York City, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter.
The search engine giant wants to secure enough space for roughly 12,000 new employees, according to the Journal via Fox News.
In addition, online retailing giant Amazon is reportedly selected New York’s Long Island City as a potential site for its planned second headquarters.
“If confirmed, the cities would give Amazon an East Coast presence to match its original headquarters in Seattle, Washington,” Fox News reported.
Amazon hasn’t publicly disclose where its headquarters will be located or if it will be split between multiple cities.
