Optics manufacturer Rochester Precision Optics says that it will expand its headquarters in the Town of Henrietta, Monroe County.

Rochester acquired a Florida-based infrared research and development company. The expansion of the headquarters on John St. is linked to the acquisition. In addition, the addition of 20,000 sq. ft. at the facility will increase production across the company’s plastics, glass, coating, diamond turning and IT divisions, according to a press statement.

The project will cost more than $20.4 million. The planned expansion is being supported through a $1 million Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Initiative Grant, and up to $2 million through the Excelsior Tax Credit Program in exchange for job creation commitments.

The expansion project is expected to be completed in late 2021.
