Packaging manufacturer starts work on nearly $8 million innovation center in Ogden

Flexible packaging manufacturer ProAmpac has broken ground on a 25,000 sq. ft. project to establish an innovation center in Ogden, Monroe County.

The company is constructing an almost $8 million addition to its existing facility, which will focus on packaging development and design and will also host regional and global consumer packaged goods companies and vendors for events and training.

“ProAmPac’s expansion is a true testament to our forward-thinking economic strategy that is fostering innovation and transforming the regional economy, creating top quality jobs,” New York Gov. Cuomo said in a statement. “By incentivizing this successful companies’ continued growth we are strengthening the economy and creating good-paying jobs in Monroe County and across the state as we continue our mission to build back better.”

At the groundbreaking gathering, ProAmpac CEO Greg Tucker in a statement expressed gratitude for development assistance from the Town of OgdenMonroe CountyGreater Rochester EnterpriseRochester Gas & Electric, the New York Power Authority, and New York’s Empire State Development Group and its Excelsior Jobs Program, which is providing a capital grant of up to $1.35 million and a $1 million tax credit over 10 years.

 ProAmpac expects the project to be completed by June 2021.
