LeChase Construction has broken ground on the long-planned Yates County Community Center expansion, a 35,000-sq. ft. building designed to serve residents of all ages with year-round recreation, fitness, and community programming.

“LeChase is proud to serve as the construction manager for the new 35,000-SF center, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2026,” the company said on social media. Serving as construction manager through its Corning office, representatives joined local leaders and hundreds of community members to mark the milestone.

The new center will feature a community room, indoor walking and running track, multipurpose courts for basketball, pickleball and volleyball, as well as expanded STEM programming for youth. Plans also include dedicated space for Special Olympics training, meeting rooms for local groups, and a variety of fitness and recreation options.

The expansion is funded in part by the “Raise the Roof” campaign, a grassroots effort supported by Yates County residents. Organizers say the project will boost local wellness and connection while also providing economic benefits through the use of local contractors and suppliers.

Once complete, the center will replace limited existing facilities and open new opportunities for residents, from youth sports to senior programs. Construction began immediately following the groundbreaking, with LeChase overseeing all phases of the build.

More information about the project is available at yatescc.org.
