Construction crews and project leaders recently marked a major milestone in the development of The Rosie, a new mixed-income apartment complex in Syracuse, with a topping-off ceremony celebrating the completion of the building’s structural framework.

The event, hosted by Hueber-Breuer Construction, recognized the workers and trade partners involved in the project as the five-story residential building moves into its next phase of construction.

When completed, The Rosie will include approximately 286 apartments, making it one of the larger residential developments currently under construction in the city.

Plans call for 97 studio apartments, 50 one-bedroom units and 139 two-bedroom units. Twelve percent of the apartments will be reserved for households earning up to 80% of the area median income, providing a mix of market-rate and income-restricted housing.

In addition to residential units, the development will feature about 1,000 square feet of retail space, resident amenity areas and approximately 143 parking spaces.

Project officials said the development is intended to help meet growing demand for housing in Syracuse while contributing to ongoing investment in the city’s residential and commercial districts.

The topping-off ceremony, a longstanding construction tradition, marks the placement of the final structural beam and serves as an opportunity to recognize the workers responsible for bringing a project to that stage.

Hueber-Breuer Construction thanked the crews and subcontractors who have worked on the project and acknowledged the contributions of its trade partners throughout the construction process.

The Rosie is being developed by The Michaels Organization, a national developer and manager of residential communities.

Construction is continuing, with work now focused on enclosing the building and completing interior spaces ahead of the project’s eventual opening.
