Special Report
From towering transit stations to complex infrastructure projects, Patricia Mohiuddin has helped power some of the city’s most ambitious construction projects.
Construction News and Report Group is pleased to recognize the Vice President & Division Manager at E-J Electric Installation Co. as one of the top women in construction for 2025 — highlighting her technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to shaping the next generation of industry leaders.
Mohiuddin’s journey began at NYU Tandon Polytechnic University, where she pursued a degree in electrical engineering. A co-op internship at E-J Electric Installation Co. introduced her to the world of construction, and she quickly realized the field was her calling.
“Being involved in large construction projects is extremely rewarding, and I couldn’t imagine a career doing anything else,” she says. She continued her education at NYU, earning a Master of Science in Construction Management and an MBA, equipping her with advanced skills to manage complex projects, costs, and teams effectively.
Since joining E-J Electric more than 20 years ago, Mohiuddin has risen through the ranks, holding roles including Senior Project Manager, Divisional Operations Manager, Vice President, and now Vice President & Division Manager. She has led projects that are landmarks in New York’s infrastructure, most notably the Second Avenue Subway’s 96th Street Station.
“This was a mega project that truly made an impact and improved the lives of New Yorkers. Attending the inaugural ride on New Year’s Day 2017 was unforgettable,” she recalls. The project included sophisticated air cooling systems, specialty lighting, redundant power systems, and custom artwork — a showcase of engineering, design, and teamwork.
Mohiuddin credits her success to collaboration and strategic communication. “All stakeholders have the same ultimate goal — a successful project,” she says. “When issues arise, getting all the right heads together to develop the best solution quickly is key.” She emphasizes the importance of swift, smart decision-making, particularly when managing large-scale infrastructure projects with multiple parties, including engineers, owners, and construction management teams.
Her expertise spans cost control, project bidding, contract negotiation alongside a strong commitment to construction safety and sustainable practices. This combination of technical skill and forward-thinking leadership has made her a pivotal figure at E-J Electric, guiding teams through challenges and delivering high-profile projects that shape the city.
As a woman making her mark in the field, Mohiuddin is passionate about mentoring others and paving the way for the next generation. Her advice to young women entering the industry is clear: “Prepare for every meeting, presentation, phone call, and email. Know the project, the contract, the specifications, and the drawings. Attend every meeting as a participant, not an observer, and say yes to opportunities — continuing education, site visits, high-level meetings, proposals — everything.”
With dedication, expertise, and leadership she has earned recognition not only for her accomplishments but also for inspiring others.
“Construction is more than building structures; it’s about building communities and shaping the future,” she says. “I’m proud to be part of projects that improve lives and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
Congratulations Patricia. You are truly one of 2025’s top women in construction.
