Turner Construction marked a major milestone in the renovation of historic Michie Stadium at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, with topping out of the new east stands.

The topping out, a traditional event that signifies the completion of the highest structural element, underscores continued progress on the transformation of the 36,000-seat stadium, home to the Army Black Knights for the past 101 years. The modernization of the east stands will give fans a full 360-degree view of the field and the Hudson Valley landscape.

“We are proud to reach this key milestone at such a storied venue,” said construction executive Luigi Morfea of Turner Construction. “Our team has developed and implemented a comprehensive logistics plan to ensure that Michie Stadium remains operational for football and lacrosse throughout construction. It’s a privilege to help preserve the legacy of this stadium while delivering modern amenities for future generations of fans.”

Construction will be completed in time for the 2026 football season.

The Michie Stadium Preservation Project involves replacing the aging east stands with a new 160,000-square-foot structure. The design integrates West Point’s neo-Gothic architectural style with modern amenities, including premium seating options such as suites, ledge seats, loge boxes, and club seats. Additionally, the project includes enhanced ADA accessibility, upgraded press and media facilities, and improved ingress and egress for large game-day crowds.
