Applications are open for the new $10 million East Side Building Fund, aimed at supporting private renovations and new development to revitalize East Buffalo’s business districts.

A public information meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. May 21 at Northland Workforce Training Center. Drop-in office hours for application assistance will also be available at 136 Broadway in the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor at the following times:
- May 29: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- June 2: 8 a.m. to noon
- June 5: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- June 23: 8 a.m. to noon
Applications are due by 4 p.m. June 27, 2025.
The fund combines several former programs into a streamlined process, allowing property owners to access funding for renovations, structural stabilization, and storefront improvements.
Two Tracks for Funding
The fund offers two tracks:<

Small Projects: Grants cover up to 90% of renovation costs for items like roofing, stabilization, and storefront upgrades, with a maximum grant of $400,000. The grants are administered by Heart of the City Neighborhoods, Inc.
- Anchor Projects: Larger projects, including restorations and new construction, can receive up to 50% reimbursement, with a cap of $2 million.
Eligible projects must involve commercial or mixed-use properties in East Buffalo, preferably in priority districts like Jefferson Avenue and Genesee Street.
