Callahan Construction Managers says it has broken ground on a seven story, 440-unit building in Yonkers, its first New York residential project.

The construction firm with offices in White Plains NY and Bridgewater MA said in a statement that it is building the 4-acre development at 57 Alexander St. on the Hudson River waterfront for developer Rose Associates. The architect is Perkins Eastman.

The project will feature a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes, as well a two-level podium CIP garage. The project is expected to deliver in phases throughout 2023.

“Callahan is proud to be a part of this vibrant project,” New York operations director David Morrow said in the statement. “This development will contribute to the growth of the community along the Hudson by offering a lifestyle and transit-oriented living experience just minutes from the waterfront district.”

“We selected Callahan Construction for this exciting project based on their experience and proven track record and we’re pleased with positive momentum at the site,” said Chris Gibaldi, managing director of development at Rose Associates.
