Contractors, municipalities and non-profits interested in flood mitigation and green infrastructure projects can learn more about $100 million in newly available funding during a webinar scheduled for April 7.

The session, hosted by the New York State Department of State, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and outline eligibility requirements and application details for two major grant programs. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on June 26, 2026, through the Consolidated Funding Application portal.

The funding supports construction-related projects designed to reduce flood risk and improve climate resilience, with a strong focus on nature-based and green infrastructure solutions.

A total of $60 million is available through the Resilient Watersheds Grant (RWG) Program for projects such as culvert replacements, bridge upgrades, dam removals, stream and floodplain restoration, and shoreline stabilization. The program builds on the state’s Resilient NY initiative and targets high-risk watersheds.

Another $40 million is being offered through the Community Resilience and Flood Risk Reduction Grants Program. Of that, $20 million is allocated for coastal rehabilitation and resilience projects, while $20 million will fund inland flooding mitigation and Local Waterfront Revitalization Program implementation.

Eligible work includes infrastructure upgrades and natural system restoration aimed at reducing stormwater runoff, mitigating flood damage and improving water quality — creating opportunities across the civil construction, environmental remediation and infrastructure sectors.

The programs are funded through the state’s $4.2-billion Clean Water, Clean Air and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022.

“Through the historic funding commitments in the Environmental Bond Act and many other resiliency programs, New York State is fast becoming the most climate resilient state in the nation,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said. “This $100 million investment will strengthen our ability to withstand future storms, while also creating healthier and more sustainable communities and economies for generations to come.”
