Skanska has signed a $305 million contract with a New Jersey university to renovate and expand its computer science center, the company said.
The contract, worth about SEK 2.8 billion, will be included in Skanska’s U.S. order bookings for the second quarter of 2026. Construction began in March 2026 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2030.
The project includes a new 12,200-square-metre (131,000-square-foot), six-storey addition featuring structural steel and mass timber construction. The addition will include classrooms, offices and laboratories designed as an interdisciplinary hub for computational thinking and collaboration.
The work also includes 9,300 square metres (100,400 square feet) of interior renovations across seven floors of the existing building, including upgraded offices and conference space while preserving the structure’s historic character.
Skanska said the project is being designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, with sustainability measures integrated throughout construction and building systems.
Once complete, the expanded facility is expected to support the university’s computer science programs and provide additional space for research, teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration.
