New photos document progress at the Buffalo Bills new stadium under construction across from the current Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.

The joint venture team of Gilbane | Turner, in association with 34 Group and Arc Building Partners, was selected by the Buffalo Bills to provide construction management services for their new NFL Stadium at Orchard Park. The project team includes the project management firm, Legends Project Development, and Populous as the designer.

It’s a $1.4 billion build is expected to be finished in time for the 2026 season.

The project includes a new 1.35 million GSF open-air stadium, 18,750 SF ancillary building, demolition of the current stadium, and related site development. The stadium’s capacity will be a minimum of 60,000 seats with an expandable capacity to hold special events. Premium areas will include suites, ledge seats, clubs, and other premium seating products.

The first steel beam was hoisted into place at the end of January.

“This major construction milestone is a testament to the union labor and local workers who have made this project possible,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “By creating thousands of jobs, this stadium has already proven to be an engine for regional economic development. I am proud of all that has been accomplished and am excited to witness future progress as we move closer to opening day in 2026.”

Officials recognized the workers who have safely played an instrumental role in the initial phases of the project and those who will work on the project moving forward.

“Collectively, more than 800 people have worked 138,000 hours to achieve this important project milestone,” said Joe Byrne, program director for Gilbane-Turner. “Their neighbors and friends in the community will now visibly be able to see the stadium take shape over the course of the next two years.

“We all look forward to celebrating further project milestones, opening day, and attending exciting games and events for decades to come in this world-class stadium.”

The stadium will include state-of-the-art video and scoreboards, sound system, administrative and event staff offices and lockers, broadcast facilities, team store, locker rooms, food service kitchens and concessions, signage, sports lighting, maintenance, and storage areas, plaza, parking, and site landscaping.
