Construction has started on the new $265 million TWA Flight Center Hotel at JFK Airport, preserving the iconic 1962-era Saarinen terminal and, according to the developers, “restoring the landmark to its jet age condition for generations to enjoy.”
Turner Construction is building the hotel, a public-private partnership redevelopment between MCR Development, JetBlue and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

“The TWA Flight Center Hotel will be an economic engine and a world-class airport hotel, creating approximately 3,700 construction and permanent jobs, 505 new hotel rooms, and 40,000 sq. ft. of meeting space at JFK,” MCR Development CEO Tyler Morse said in a statement. LubranoCiaverra Architects have designed the structure, which incorporates many elements of the original flight terminal building.
