Hudson Valley Community College has marked a major construction milestone on its new Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC), with the project team celebrating the topping out of the 130,000-square-foot facility.
Turner Construction Co., the construction manager, joined college officials, project partners, trade contractors and community leaders on July 30 to celebrate the placement of the final structural steel beam, signifying completion of the building’s structural frame.
The Applied Technology Education Center is designed to expand the college’s capacity to train students for careers in advanced manufacturing, semiconductor technology, engineering, robotics, clean energy and other high-demand industries.
The facility will include specialized laboratories, flexible classrooms, collaborative learning spaces and industry-focused training areas to support hands-on technical education and workforce development.
According to Turner, construction has progressed while maintaining campus operations through close coordination with the college and project stakeholders, with an emphasis on safety, quality and schedule performance.
The project is expected to become a regional hub for technical education, supporting New York’s growing advanced manufacturing and semiconductor sectors by preparing students with industry-relevant skills.
Construction is continuing, with the Applied Technology Education Center expected to provide long-term workforce training capacity for Hudson Valley Community College and the Capital Region.
