Privately held Suffolk recently topped off of the 222 East 44th St. project, a 43-story mixed-use NYC residential building.
Developed by BLDG Management and designed by Handel Architects, the tower will have 429 units, 87 of them being affordable, and a combination of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.
“This is a significant development that will enable residents of the Midtown East neighborhood to be right in the heart of an area well known for providing office space for thriving companies,” said Charles Avolio, president and general manager of Suffolk’s New York Region. “We’re excited to be involved in this incredible project and bring our innovative ‘build smart’ approach to construction management.”
Suffolk says it is leveraging the latest Lean Construction principles and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) to enhance team-wide collaboration, eliminate waste and increase efficiencies on the project.
Suffolk is managing construction of the project in a joint venture with Noble Construction Group. Construction is scheduled for completion in June 2018.
