Tishman leads NYC builders in volume, building permit value: NYCDOB

There are 372 new building projects rising throughout the island of Manhattan, the New York City Department of Buildings (NYCDOB) reports, based on Dec. 28, 2018 data.

The Active Major Construction dashboard says the largest project currently under construction is at 500 W. 33 St. in the Hudson Yards development. Tishman Construction Corp. is building the $576.68 million structure.

The data indicates, in part because of this project, Tishman is currently constructing 14 million sq. ft. in the city, almost double second-place LendLease (US) Construction (7.4 million sq. ft. and third-place Turner Construction Company (7.2 million sq. ft.).

NYCDOB says Community Board 4 on the west side of Manhattan is leading the pack with 59 active new building permits, which accounts for a whopping 24,422,395 sq. ft. under construction, and 8,317 new proposed dwelling units being added to the neighborhood.

Overall, the data shows 6,561 active permit with an overall value of $31.4 billion.
