Construction begins on $2.5 million project in Village of Lancaster

Work has started on the $2.5 million extension of West Main St. in the Village of Lancaster.

The 450-foot addition will connect Central Ave. to Aurora St. and will jump-start the construction of a commercial and residential development complex, The Buffalo News reports.

The project includes the introduction of two-way traffic on West Main; a public park along the banks of Cayuga Creek; and bicycle lanes along Central.

The Village of Lancaster is one of about 30 communities in the state with historic districts listed on the National Register.
